Arizona has the largest projected percentage increase of any state with over a 100% growth in the population over 65 by 2030.
West Virginia is the state with the smallest percent increase at 29.3%. Note, that District of Columbia is projected to loose -5% over the next two decades.
Florida will have the largest elderly population growth over the next two decades with an additional 3.6 million people over the age of 65.
California has the largest current elderly population at 5.2 million people and it is projected to stay that way with a projected 8.3 million by 2030.
The population of people over 65 in California, Texas and Florida make up over 25% of the people over 65 in the United States.
